With the first selection in the NBA Draft...

This past Sunday, we kicked off (or should I say tipped off? Wait, no, no, kicked off is correct) the third season of Survivor Fantasy NBA. The previous years winners were Dan and Hubert.

Survivor basketball works like this. Players earn fantasy points based on points, rebounds, assists, steals, blocks, turnovers, field goals missed and free throws missed. The team with the fewest points at the end of the month gets eliminated, and his players are available for redraft in reverse order of the current rankings. Last man standing at the end of the NBA season is the Chevrolet Survivor Fantasy Basketball Champion and wins the keys to a brand new Chevy truck.

With that said, here's my analysis of the 2005 draft:

Round 1    
1. K. Garnett Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) Well, it's either him or Lebron.
2. L. James Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Since I have KG and LBJ about the same, sweet value here.
3. K. Bryant Whoosh (Jeremy)  
4. S. Marion Rapscallions (Dan) With Amare out, Marion's numbers should improve. In Survivor, you only worry how well your team does short term.
5. D. Nowitzki I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) No surprise, a solid pick here. If he gets center eligibility, he's a steal here.
6. T. McGrady Tossers (Andrew)  
7. T. Duncan trix are for kids (Hubert) Duncan's numbers are declining, but he is the best center out there, for now.
Round 2    
8. A. Iverson trix are for kids (Hubert)  
9. G. Arenas Tossers (Andrew)  
10. A. Kirilenko I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) AK is a great rotisserie player. In our point system, he's a bit high here, since there are 20 pt scorers available. I do like the fact he's only 24 years old, though.
11. D. Wade Rapscallions (Dan) He certainly proved himself last year, but with the addition of Jason Williams, he's complained that he hasn't touched the ball enough. I'm guessing that chucker Antoine is part of the problem too. A lot of upside if the additions don't hinder him.
12. S. Nash Whoosh (Jeremy) Will Nash's scoring increase with Amare out? Will his assists stay the same? Like AK, Nash is a better roto player than he is points player. I think he's high here as he's a 15-10 guy, and there are still 20-10 guys available.
13. S. Marbury Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)  
14. J. Kidd Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) There's news that there will be a reduction in his minutes this year to keep him healthy.
Round 3    
15. P. Pierce Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott)  
16. Y. Ming Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) I think he's soft and I'm always disappointed with his numbers. I'd rather have a solid 20-10 guy here.
17. J. O'Neal Whoosh (Jeremy) 24 pts and 8 rebounds, last year. He's only getting better. Nice pick here.
18. B. Davis Rapscallions (Dan)  
19. S. Francis I'm a F****** Badass (Chang)  
20. E. Brand Tossers (Andrew) The prototypical 20-10 guy.
21. V. Carter trix are for kids (Hubert) Vince had huge numbers last year. How will they look with RJ in the mix for a full season? Look at last year's playoffs, VC appears OK. My instinct is to stay away.
Round 4    
22. S. O'Neal trix are for kids (Hubert) Expect 20-10, but only when his big toe isn't hurting.
23. B. Miller Tossers (Andrew)  
24. R. Allen I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) A decent pick here. 30 fantasy pts before taxes.
25. P. Stojakovic Rapscallions (Dan) I think this pick is high for any type of fantasy league.
26. P. Gasol Whoosh (Jeremy) Great pick here. I think he'll be a 20-10 guy this year.
27. M. Bibby Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Nice pick.
28. M. Ginobili Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) Too high here, considering SA just added another scorer in Finley.
Round 5    
29. L. Hughes Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) Will Hughes be as good as he was last year? What I'm saying is, he's risky.
30. R. Artest Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)  
31. E. Okafor Whoosh (Jeremy) A 15-10 center. Not bad. .
32. R. Lewis Rapscallions (Dan) Too high. He scores but doesn't do much else. He needs to avg 30ppg to be useful. I don't think that will happen this year.
33. Z. Ilgauskas I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) I think he'll produce the same as Yao, which makes this a good pick, and the Yao pick bad.
34. C. Maggette Tossers (Andrew)  
35. C. Bosh trix are for kids (Hubert) I like the pick, I wish I had gotten Bosh.
Round 6    
36. L. Odom trix are for kids (Hubert)  
37. D. Howard Tossers (Andrew)  
38. Z. Randolph I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Another 20-10 guy. Good value here.
39. R. Jefferson Rapscallions (Dan)  
40. J. Richardson Whoosh (Jeremy) Good numbers last year. Good value here.
41. B. Wallace Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) I think there are other centers who will be available in later rounds that can produce the same fantasy points.
42. S. Abdur-Rahim Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) Too high, his role isn't very well defined yet. Will Kenny Thomas start over him?
Round 7    
43. C. Billups Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) A blah pick.
44. M. Redd Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)  
45. C. Boozer Whoosh (Jeremy) He was gonna be a 20-10 guy before injuries. I like the pick.
46. C. Anthony Rapscallions (Dan)  
47. A. Jamison I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Good pick here. 20-7 guy. Not bad.
48. J. Howard Tossers (Andrew) High here for a guy who avg 12ppg last year. I'll now defend my pick, saying, he's the second scoring option in Dallas, and is an explosive player, and I wanted to make sure I got him.
49. J. Johnson trix are for kids (Hubert)  
Round 8    
50. C. Webber trix are for kids (Hubert) I don't like this pick. He may produce, but he's a pussy.
51. C. Paul Tossers (Andrew)  
52. B. Gordon I'm a F****** Badass (Chang)  
53. A. Iguodala Rapscallions (Dan) Another swing and miss for autodrafter. Iggy's got potential, will he produce enough to warrant this pick this year? I think not.
54. Ku. Thomas Whoosh (Jeremy)  
55. R. Wallace Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Good pick here.
56. K. Korver Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) Bad pick here. Korver gets a bit of each stat, but those don't add up to too much in pt scoring.
Round 9    
57. W. Szczerbiak Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) This boy is white too. Scott's obviously on autodraft.
58. M. Camby Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)  
59. B. Simmons Whoosh (Jeremy) I like this pick. Simmons has the SF role sewn up.
60. J. Terry Rapscallions (Dan)  
61. M. Peterson I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Is he even starting? He finished strong last year, but no word this year.
62. A. Miller Tossers (Andrew)  
63. K. Hinrich trix are for kids (Hubert)  
Round 10    
64. A. Harrington trix are for kids (Hubert) He'll be more valuable once he's on a different team. Otherwise, I'm not big on him since the roster became even more crowded. I think he'll be the odd man out.
65. R. Hamilton Tossers (Andrew)  
66. E. Curry I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Curry's got potential. Will he do better this year than Primo or Nenad? Eh. Too high.
67. J. Crawford Rapscallions (Dan)  
68. D. Gooden Whoosh (Jeremy)  
69. J. Childress Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Props to the Stanford pick.
70. M. Okur Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott)  
Round 11    
71. C. Mobley Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott)  
72. I. Diogu Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)  
73. S. Jackson Whoosh (Jeremy)  
74. D. Stoudamire Rapscallions (Dan)

78. T. Murphy trix are for kids (Hubert) Damn you, I figured with Murphy so low on Yahoo! Rankings I could get him at pick 79. Great pick, bastard.
79. P. Brown Tossers (Andrew) I got stuck with this loser. With Magloire in Milwaukee, his numbers could improve slightly. He's a very boring pick though.
80. M. Miller I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) These next 7 picks are hella boring.
81. J. Tinsley Rapscallions (Dan)  
82. T. Parker Whoosh (Jeremy)  
83. M. Daniels Gimp's Gimps (Gerald)

89. J. Rose I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Nice pick.
90. B. Wells Tossers (Andrew) Bonzi could bust out.
91. Q. Richardson trix are for kids (Hubert) Way to grab the greedy bastards.
Round 14    
92. R. Davis trix are for kids (Hubert) The greediest of the greedy.
93. M. Sweetney Tossers (Andrew) He's done well in preseason, but he hasn't gotten a lot of minutes.
94. M. Dunleavy I'm a F****** Badass (Chang) Nice pick.
95. E. Jones Rapscallions (Dan)  
96. T. Prince Whoosh (Jeremy) Haha, you took Tayshaun. As Hubert put it, Jeremy "put this guy out of his misery". This guy was very high on Yahoo! Rankings. Damn Excel, stop freaking capitalizing stuff for me!
97. A. Bogut Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Bad pick. I don't think you'll be around long enough to use him.
98. S. Cassell Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott)

111. B. Cardinal Gimp's Gimps (Gerald) Brian Cardinal. Please. Even though this is the second to last pick, it still sucks.
112. J. Nelson Bacon-eating Hobbits (Scott) A lot of upside, I like the pick.

  • i'm going to be a smart GM this year and actually last longer than in my previous two campaigns in which i exited despite posessing the highest fppg avg.
